THE TEA ROOM

Until 1976, this was the kitchen and in daily use.  Water was obtained from the scullery across the corridor. Even the simplest meal required items from three rooms before it arrived in the dining room which is immediately above.

The bronze bell displayed here hung in the tower over the archway in the courtyard until 2016.

During repair and redecoration work to the tower, it was found that the hanging mechanism for the bell was dangerously damaged, and for safety it was removed.

The Tea Room is located in the basement of the house, where light refreshments are sold, i.e. tea, coffee, homemade cakes and scones.  Cards and pottery can also be bought.
